I’m Jared, a U.S. Army veteran, former U.S. Intelligence Community professional, and the founder of PREP. This idea wasn’t built out of fear, but out of concern—real concern—for where things are headed. The world feels like it’s teetering. Political instability in the United States is growing deeper by the year. Talk of leaving NATO has global consequences that could lead to economic collapse and nuclear war. Climate disasters are accelerating. And the divide between neighbors hasn't felt this wide since the Civil War.
I started PREP because I’m worried too—not just about disasters or war or blackouts, but about the fact that we’ve forgotten how to rely on each other. We’ve become isolated, even as the world becomes more unpredictable. But I truly believe that many of our biggest challenges can be addressed by rebuilding trust within our communities—by being there for the people on our street, not just shouting at each other online.
Why We Exist
PREP stands for Personal Resilience and Evacuation Planning, but it's about more than gear or food or escape routes. It's about taking ownership of your future and preparing with purpose. It's about rebuilding local strength with one family, one block, and one neighborhood at a time.
I’ve spent my professional life working in national defense and risk analysis. That experience taught me one clear thing: when things go wrong, the people who are prepared—and connected—fare the best. No agency, no government, no system, no matter how good or well-intending, can replace what a well-informed community can do for itself.
